You ever listen to a song that instantly took you back to some unforgettable, nostalgic moment when you were just vibing and living life? That’s me listening to Black Beatles by Rae Sremmurd right now. I currently have it on repeat as I’m writing this post and mentally reliving an epic homecoming weekend at my alma mater Howard University, wishing I could replay the entire thing over and over again like I’m doing this song.
HU Homecoming is basically a lit Chuck E. Cheese for millennials — where a responsible adult can be a ratchet. Every year, folk come from all over the world (not exaggerating) to engage in a mixy, melanistic weekend of slayage, socializing and nonstop partying. Last weekend I partook in all festivities, and I have the sore throat and raspy voice to prove it.
On top of all that, I got to celebrate five years of sisterhood with my beloved line Tenacious 43 Spring 2011 of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. We took a trip to Barbados in July (which I still need to write about) and closed out our five-year celebration homecoming weekend with the dopest anniversary jackets ever and some beautifully captured moments.
So rather than write an entire post describing how lit my weekend was, I’ll just drop some pics below and let them speak for themselves. Enjoy. 🙂
Too much sauce.
