It’s been a little over a week since Black Panther came out and I still can’t get enough of this movie. I went to see it again for a third time this past weekend because I’m grown and I can go see it as many times as I want to. And third time’s a charm.
There were actually a couple new things I picked up on this time (check out my last post for my other theories). Like how the voice of the narrator at the very beginning was Prince N’Jobu (Sterling K. Brown) explaining the history of Wakanda to a young Erik. And it was brought to my attention that Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) wore green throughout the entire film (like literally every single outfit she wore was green). And Okoye (Danai Gurira) always wore red. And the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) always wore, well, black. Put ’em all together and what do you get? The colors of the Pan-African flag:
I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE, Y’ALL. I feel like we all are. So much so, that the movie is not enough. We need more. We need an actual place we can escape to. We need a Wakanda World.
I’m talking a whole damn theme park. The Melanin Magical Kingdom. One that’s an exact replica of the glorious haven of melanin godliness we witnessed on the big screen. If Marvel and Disney don’t already have this in the works, they need to get on it asap and run me my check. Y’all gave Hogwarts fans their lil Harry Potter World. Now give us our Wakanda.
This is exactly how it needs to happen when y’all do:
All visitors flying in from major urban cities (i.e. Detroit, Chicago, ATL, NY, DC, etc.) will be able to book a direct flight to Wakanda (World).
The park will be the exact same size of Wakanda, which I assume is big enough to have its own commercial airport. Even though we know it’s a fictional place, you gotta admit the idea of booking a flight and ACTUALLY flying into Wakanda is pretty freaking lit (imagine flying over that amazing Afrofuturist city skyline). The plane ride itself will include a screening of Black Panther, music from the official soundtrack, and an audio recording of Okoye saying, “My brothers. My sisters. We are home,” which will play over the loudspeaker upon landing.
Once arrived, all guests will be greeted by local Wakandan citizens singing traditional songs/chants while handing out complimentary shea butter.
Because in order to enter the land of Wakanda, your skin gotta be glowing and glistening like this:
There will be live reenactments from the film.
OK so I know the main Black Panther cast has way too much going on to be doing scene reenactments in a theme park all day, but they can all at least be at the opening day. They’ll act out various scenes including the fight between T’Challa and M’Baku on Challenge Day, all the fight scenes between BP and Killmonger, etc. After Opening Day, other actors will be hired to do the reenactments.
There will be hella theme rides.
From Black Panther’s “Bugatti spaceship” (those boys at the end had me cracking up), to Shuri’s hologram car, to the Vibranium freight trains and elevators, to the massive rhinos… I’m getting hyped just thinking about how dope all these rides could be.
There will be walking tours of the Wakandan castle, Vibranium lab and
the garden of the Heart-shaped Herb.
Visitors of Wakanda will be led through various rooms of the royal castle where King T’Challa and his family reside (VIP guests will actually be able to lodge in the castle), Shuri’s secret lab where she and her design team created BP’s suit, gadgets and all of Wakanda’s technology, and the garden of the Heart-Shaped Herb, where the plant responsible for BP’s power is grown and preserved. Only VIP guests will be allowed into the ancestral plane.
The rest of the park will consist of the Wakandan village and farmland, where visitors can engage in various activities with local citizens, including dance classes (an exclusive one will be led by Lupita), farming and textile activities, and cooking and tasting of traditional Wakandan food. Oh, and a gift store where you can buy #WakandaForever t-shirts and keychains.
What y’all think? Anything else y’all wanna see in Wakanda World? And Disney and Marvel, how soon can y’all make this happen??? I need answers.
