Man, can y’all believe we’re already halfway through the year? Seems like just yesterday I was ringing in the New Year with the fam (I didn’t feel like going out), eager to start the next chapter of my life at a new job (praise God!) with a new and improved mindset. Oh, and new goals, of course.
Now, here we are — smack dab in the middle of 2018. And I’ma just keep it all the way real with y’all when I say that I’ve got a slew of goals I set for this year that still need accomplishing. Some are long overdue (I’ve got AT LEAST five unfinished blog posts sitting in my drafts as we speak) and some have been lingering on my mental, patiently waiting on me to stop b.s.-ing and make moves.
And then there are goals I actually did accomplish, like:
- Redesigned my blog site and logo (special shoutout goes to my talented web and graphic designer Danny, who helped me make it happen. Make sure y’all check him out!). Still got a few things I need to add to the site (which is currently on my list of goals to accomplish) but overall I’m loving the new look. What y’all think?!
- Completed all of my self challenges so far…well, almost all. My April challenge was to use my camera everyday. And I was doing good until my memory card stopped working and my camera charger disappeared. *insert eye roll emoji* So yeah. #MissionNotAccomplished. Once I get a new camera charger (you would think I would’ve gotten that by now, right?), I’m gonna get it together. BUT, the good thing is I’ve developed a desire to actually step outside of my comfort zone and use the thing, which was the whole point of doing the challenge. So I guess when you look at it that way, #MissionAccomplished. And then my May challenge was physical fitness, which deserves its own paragraph lol.
- I started going to therapy once a week. And it’s truly been a blessing. Got a post on that in the works (one of the ones in my drafts lol).
So many of y’all who either know me know me or been following me for a while know that I’ve been — well, more like trying to be — on my #TeamGrowAJudy #GetThick flow for a while now. My main problem was that I was never really consistent with it, so I dedicated May to getting my body right and tight. I’m talking like four meals a day (gotta load up on the protein) and working out everyday. Ya girl even broke down and bought an Apple Watch to help keep me on track with my workouts (and I’m literally obsessed). I’m not where I want to be just yet, but I’m loving the results so far. I’ll be sure to follow up with before-and-after pics in a future post so stay tuned!
But overall, 2018 has been good to me so far. I’ve had some losses, but I’ve also had wins. And there have been plenty of things that didn’t go the way I envisioned at the start of the year. But you know what? I can honestly say that I’m in a good place. I’m learning how to let things go, thinking more before I speak, stressing less, smiling more and learning the value of loving people exactly where they are (even if it’s from a distance). So it’s safe to say that while I haven’t accomplished all of my goals for 2018 just yet, I’m happy and content with the space I’m in.
So my June self challenge is no alcohol for the whole month. And I love me a nice glass of wine and a good whisky cocktail, so I can’t even front — this is gonna be a tough one. But God got me, and I got this! Just pray for ya girl and stay tuned for a post. Should be verrrryyy interesting lol.
